Vintage 1920s raccoon fur coat, genuine long plush overcoat, brown black white mottled flapper formal Gatsby roaring 20s antique
1920s RACCOON FUR COAT • An amazing genuine raccoon-fur coat from the 1920s! Most of these were made into Davy-Crockett raccoon hats in the 1950s. • Large portrait collar • Full-length rolled sleeves • Fully lined; silk upper lining including arms • "BAH" embroidery (as in "Bah humbug," we joked) • Outer pockets trimmed with a ringed tail • Three larger hidden hook-and-eye clasps in front
ERA: 1920s COLOR: shades of brown MATERIAL: genuine raccoon fur LINING: full silk, cotton LABEL: D.M. Read Co, Bridgeport, Connecticut ORIGIN: Made in USA
SIZE: unlabeled, best fits a S (though raccoon coats like this were heavily worn by men!), please see measurements
LENGTH: 45" BUST: 36"
CONDITION: There is an unfortunate large, 4" tear in the fur at the right underarm, as well as some tearing in the underarm lining in that arm. (There's an insulating layer which is intact.) Two of the loops in front are broken on one end. The silk lining is also torn at the top along the shoulder line and the label has come loose on most sides. Most of the lining, however is in very good condition. Coat is extremely heavy!
